A goal without a plan is just a wish.
~Larry Elder~
It is a new year. The time of year that people all over the world start setting goals, for their business, their personal life and their health. Some people make their goals before the end of the year, some wait until New Years Day and others give the year a little time to mature before they set their goals.
My church has what it calls Vision Sunday. On this day my pastor lets the congregation know what the vision is for the new year. We use this vision to set our goals.
We are going to explore setting goals in a step by step format over the next month.
Some of the things we will talk about are:
- why goals matter
- how to set goals
- the mistakes people make when setting goals
- measuring your progress
- knowing when to adapt goals
- strategies to achieve goals
- staying focused on our goals
- supporting our goals
- when to give up on our goals
- what to do when we “fail”
Many business people of all levels get stuck – not because they don’t have good ideas; not because they lack motivation or smarts; not because they’re won’t roll up their sleeves, but because they simply don’t have good, smart goals. They haven’t set goals and designed strategies that will help them get from where they are today to where they’re dreaming about being tomorrow.
Often, the only difference between those who make it happen and those who don’t make it happen is a person’s willingness to set their goals. Period
Stay with me as I walk us on this journey to set good, usable and attainable goals for our business and ourselves.
